For this room whose long window front opens onto the adjoining park, the artist has produced an interior environment with the title “APPARENTLY” made of acrylic glass and colored elements that reach formidably to a height of more than four meters and a width of just under Rita Rohlfing counters the architecture of a real stairway with the projection of a second real stairway, one derived from another time and another cultural context. Namely, a photograph the artist took of the iron fire escape on a facade of an early 20th century building in New York’s Chelsea quarter during her 1994/1995 student year there. Available for sale from Galerie Floss & Schultz , Rita Rohlfing, 2 (2020), Oil on aluminium, 44 × 29 × 3 cm Since then Rita Rohlfing has constructed coloured spaces combining sculptural and pictorial elements in such a manner that each in its separate components heightens the other, creating a third element which is essentially space and colour. This insubstantial colour space is also evident in the last three installations to be found in various places. Available for sale from Galerie Floss & Schultz , Rita Rohlfing, R.o.T.
